ProTex Large Gigbag

I have found myself with two of the large ProTec gig bags, model C-241, and I only need one.

The second is available for $100, plus shipping.

The big ProTec bag is large indeed, providing space for a 22" bell and a 45" height. My Holton fits in one with ease, and even some extra space. An upright-bell Conn should fit in one of these, as well as any tuba with a large bell. The bag opens from the side, which I prefer. The handle is put together from both sides and the shoulder strap connects to both sides, so you can carry it with the zipper mostly unzipped and the horn won't fall out. It has shoulder straps, but the bag rides pretty low when you use them. (For the difference in cost between this and competing bags, the strap attachment points could be moved.) I have found that this one carries easiest over one shoulder, using the shoulder strap.

This bag is roomier than the old RB/Cronkhite Grand Orchestral bag, so if your horn won't fit in that bag, it will fit in this one. (My BBb Holton would not fit in my old RV bag with any room to spare, and the tautness of the cloth bugged me.) This would be the perfect bag for those tall, 20" bell 5/4 rotary tubas. Tubas with bells bigger than 22" won't fit, however.

The ProTec has two pockets. The bigger one holds music folders handily, and both are three-dimensional pockets so they hold stuff without poking into the instrument.
