I'm parting out my collection of vintage Conn tuba mouthpieces.

What we've got here are my 1930's vintage Conn Helleberg, Conn Chief, and Conn Geib tuba mouthpieces.

The Conn Helleberg has been replated. It's in overall very good condition. It has some small flaws here and there, but it's in fine shape. This is the Conn Helleberg which Lee Stofer borrowed to copy for his Stofer Helleberg. $450

The Conn Chief is in beautiful condition. I've never seen a nicer one which hasn't undergone a full restoration. I had it replated only. $475

The Conn Geib was borrowed by Lee Stofer to have copied for his Stofer Geib. It's in very fine playable condition. I actually played this mouthpiece for several years. $600

Shipping for all of these will be done via FedEx ground which I trust a little more than the USPS.

My phone number is 404- five eight five- TUBA.
email is christian_j_klein at yahoo dot com.
PMs are ok also.

I accept paypal, personal checks, or cash.

Pictures are below. More can be taken as desired.

All the best,
Christian Klein

Any way to figure out the throat diameter on the Chief? Thanks.

I can measure it. IIRC, it's largeish. I'll measure it and post the results.

Is there a modern mouthpiece that is either similar to or modeled after the Chief? Besides the Wessex, that is. Just curious why Hellebergs and (to a lesser extent) Geib's are popular, but Chiefs just aren't out there.

If it is larger than @ a "P" drill bit size (@ .323 inches, or 8.2 mm), then that takes more air than these lungs can push anymore. I sold my favorite mouthpiece, a Wick 1, some time ago for this very reason.

Dillon music made some Chief models around the same time they had hellebergs and the G-series.
There were also a few Stofer Chief mouthpieces.

The Wessex site actually has pictures of all of these:

It's actually "T" drill bit sized. Both 23/64" and "T" drill bits fit in the throat. That makes it around .359" / 9mm. Mighty big.

We're talking about a vintage, Made in America, holy cow that's pretty, dang I gotta get me one of those, Conn Chief tuba mouthpiece. The signature mouthpiece for John Kuhn.

Yes, too large for me. Thanks anyway.
