Meinl Weston 2182/2 *price drop*

Meinl Weston 2182/2 F Tuba:
This is a very unique 2182, prototype originally owned by Warren Deck hand built by Meinl Weston. Truly a fantastic F tuba with a lot of color! It has served me very well over the past few years. The horn comes with a MW gig bag, Alan Baer PVAK (already on the valves), and 3 interchangeable leadpipes. These leadpipes were built by Carl Kleinsteuber at the Univ. of North Texas repair shop and the tuba now has a small, medium, and large leadpipe that can easily be changed at anytime. I've found the larger leadpipe really beefs up the sound, and gives this ax a little more horsepower in the low register! Also, the tuba was last chem cleaned this past January. I'm selling this tuba because I would like to move to a larger F. I would hold onto to this horn if I had the $$$ to have both. The tuba is located in Denton TX and I'm asking $7,000 for everything.

Recording from my last brass quintet recital with this horn: https://soundcloud.com/tuba114/2182-f-t ... ss-quintet" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

Thanks for looking!
Jesse

Had the interesting opportunity to have the 2182w (left) and the 2182/2 (right) side-by-side!

I've heard and played on this horn personally. Its current owner and multiple professional players who have given the horn a few notes, have all gone to say that it produces an excellent tone and a beautiful quality in all registers, along with quite excellent intonation. The next person to own this instrument will be very lucky to own such an excellent instrument. :tuba:

The 2182W was developed with the help of Warren Deck and Aaron Tindall. It has the larger Meinl Weston valve block seen on the rest of their newer models and some updated bracing work to help the low register response. There might have been a few other tweaks but I can't remember what else they are. I believe the 'W' stands for Warren.

These handmade 2182/2s are awesome horns and someone will get a great tuba here!

The 2182w had a massive leadpipe on it, looked to be the same leadpipe used on the Thor's?
