This is an MW45 F-tuba marked Sanders from the '70's or 80's. It's in great shape and I've had some modifications made. I had the thumb ring that was uncomfortable removed and a bar brace put in it's place with a new thumb trigger. I also had the lead pipe taken off the bell and re tacked on a slight angle. There had been solder all around the bell/lead pipe constricting resonance. Also had the strap rings and nutcracker removed. This work was done by Chuck McAlexander at the Brasslab in Brooklyn, NY. Additionally I had the small side of the main slide reversed by Martin Wilk. He also added an interesting brace to that slide. All of this has positively affected the playability of the instrument. It has that beautiful, classic MW sound that is far superior to the new Chinese knock offs. Intonation is very good. The usual D,Db, and C stuffiness applies, but I believe the mods made this more manageable.
Why am I selling? This horn brought me through a difficult period when I thought I might not play the solo lit ever again. Fortunately, I've turned those difficulties around, and believe it's time for an upgrade.
This is an ideal horn for a young college student on a budget.
Comes with a protech gig bag.
Asking $3600.00 + S&H.
