SOLD: Rusk-cut Chicago Holton Eb tuba

I purchased very recently a Besson Eb tuba to be used as my primary bass tuba and know that my Holton will only start collecting dust.

I'd rather see it go to a good home where it will be played and enjoyed.

The horn's bell and outer branches are originally from a 1918 Holton 3 top action valve tuba. It was manufactured in Holton's Chicago factory.

From what details I have learned since owning this horn, Bob Rusk took this horn, removed its valve section, rotated the bell around, added a Holton sousaphone valve section to it with an added valve removed from another Holton sousaphone section to make a 4th valve for the horn.

Asking price is $2,200.00 with shipping anywhere in the continental US.

PM me for details and pictures.

Thanks for looking.

This horn has been SOLD.

These are photos from when I purchased it from Lee Stofer. If there are any additional dents since these pictures they are superficial.

The horn doesn't have the shine anymore due to it having been used and being raw brass. I'd be happy to shine it up before sending it out.

That is about the prettiest looking Rush-cut I've seen. If I was playing Eb I'd give it a try for sure.

I played with the guy that had this built; it's the best sounding horn I've ever heard.

I don't think this is a cut horn. I would call it an 'uncut Rusk' . I don't doubt it's a Rusk however.

It's strange that the word 'cut' often seems to go with Rusk even when it's clearly not the case.

It was originally a 3 top valve Holton Eb.
