WTB: older Miraphone 186 CC

Post by bort »

I may be in the market for a Miraphone 186 CC (5 valves preferred, but 4 is ok).

Ideally:
-- Older, and as low price as possible
-- Plays well (typical 186)
-- Physical condition doesn't really matter, as long as it isn't (or hasn't been) trashed

Anyone looking to sell a well-worn workhorse?

Would consider similar horns, but nothing smaller (no 184's) and nothing Chinese.

Thanks! :tuba:

How much is a "low price"?

I have one, but the 5th valve is reversed for some reason. It plays fine, the 5th valve just needs to be moved to the proper open/closed position.

I'll take 1 too, preferably with 4 valves. My first CC was a new 1971, 186 4U CC. 17 CC tubas later, it might have been the best of the bunch.

I recently borrowed a 1963, 186 4U CC from someone here in town. Man, that horn had a magical sound. Unfortunately, I had to give it back.

Well, I don't even need anything THAT old or that extreme. Just looking for something that *isn't* a Miraphone 186 that someone bought 5 or 10 years ago and is now trying to sell for just less than today's new prices.
