This is a very fine tuba. Super silky smooth. Huge dynamic range. Sophisticated and beautiful sound, capable of a darker spectrum and bigger louds than the average Baer. Incredible craftsmanship beyond Meinl Weston's normal standards with every slide perfectly aligned from the beginning.

I bought this horn when I was at Carnegie Mellon. It was an upgrade from my production model 6450, which I had thought was too good to be true (and it was amazing), but this handmade 6450/2 had a more complex tone pallet to work with. I've used it for many concerts over the years with my orchestra, the Asheville Symphony, and other orchestras I've subbed with. I did not use it for Air Force gigs as I had a government owned 6450/2 for that purpose.

One owner, me. Manufactured and purchased in 2009.
Given regular baths and professional cleanings throughout life. Most recent professional chem-cleaning, May 2016.
Small dings on bell and bow. No dents.
No modifications have been made.
Comes with Baer PVAK and Cronkhite gig bag.

I have played this tuba a few years ago and it is a great example of the Baer and it's handmade. At this price it is a steal for someone looking for a great large horn. Bud is also a very trustworthy and honest person and he takes care of his gear. Damn good tuba player too!

I, too, can attest to the superb quality of this horn. I had the opportunity to play it a couple months ago, and it made me wish I had CC fingering down. Although my brain kept getting in the way I thoroughly enjoyed it's tone. Huge sound and very nimble action. This horn needs to belong to someone who wants the best possible large CC
