Hello,

I live in Melbourne, Australia, and I am currently looking to purchase my first C Tuba to use at university. Is there anyone out there selling anything cheaply? I'm getting kind of desperate now...

Reach out to Jonathan at Wessex and get theit miraclone. It is a great horn for the money and will get you through your undergrad. Otherwise, speak to your prospective teacher... he/she should be able to help you find a horn you can afford.

Do you think I'll be "mocked" for using a Chinese manufactured instrument at university?

75% of the tubas at my university are Chinese. Where the horn was made and how much it cost are not important... the only thing that matters is that you sound good on it.

It is more important that you get a reliable horn since you are purchasing blind, than to buy a horn that costs more and might not be a good fit for you.

I play a Mack Brass Miraclone and I am the principal tuba at my university. I have convinced half of my classmates to buy a Mack Brass Chinese horn. They are as good as the original and I would highly recommend any Miraclone.
