SOLD- Miraphone 1293 Raw Brass

Post by chailey »

Miraphone 1293
Raw Brass
2 lead pipes (American and Euro)
Bottom bow and bell have been baked
Original Owner
I picked this horn from a batch of 5 1293. This horn has such a amazing sound, it slots incredibly well and has a very even timbre through out all registers.
I won my current job on this horn and it has served me very well, it is a versatile tuba that can be played in all types of groups.

There are a few dings around the horn and one dent that has not been removed. I let the raw brass patina so it looks old but the horn was made in 2011.

The picture here is right after the lacquer had been stripped this summer since then there is some patina on the raw brass.

Please feel free to PM with any questions you may have.

It will also come with a MTS case.

I can vouch for this horn. Great tone, grateful pitch. I usually don't like Miraphone, but I loved this one when I played it.

OH NO! I love this horn. Connor's 1293 is a SUPER solid horn. One of the easiest horns to play. I wish he wouldn't sell it right now, but hopefully someone nice gets it.

De-laquering that horn was a great decision (and a fun time).

Connor is the man! This horn was amazing before all the great work he put into it, now it's even better. This is a great opportunity for someone to own a fantastic instrument.

Out of curiosity, what were the specific benefits?

Nice horn. The bell reminds me very much of my original 1290. That was a very good horn but not perfect. With a more compact wrap and some of the kinks ironed out, I could easily see where this would be a killer instrument.

It has allowed the horn to resonate a little more and just slots better now. I am vary happy I decided to take the lacquer off.

How did you do this? I have a 1291 and have though about doing this. Looks great!
