I'm looking for a good condition Yamaha YBB-201 bell for a future project, preferably one of the older ones without engraving.
(The Yamaha YBB-321 bell is interchangeable and also welcome)
Thanks for looking and Happy Christmas!

I haven't seen on of those Yamahas for a while but I seem to recall that the bell is very close to that of a Miraphone 186. I put a Yamaha bell on a 186 once. Check these specifications against the bell on your Yamaha:
Miraphone 186 upright bell
16 1/2" flare
26 3/4" overall length
15 1/4" circumference (4.85" diameter) small end
Chinese 186 replacement bells (from Mack Brass) 4/12/14
17 1/2" flare
26 1/2" long (trimmed to length)
15 3/8" circumfence (4.89" dia) small end (trimmed)
If everything matches up... and you want to build the horn 'on the cheap' just buy a Chinese bell.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for that tip, but the main issue involved here is the bell throat - I'm going to be using in a detachable bell tenon, and the Yamaha bell is a little bit more narrow at the connection point.
I don't know if there is a Chinese knock-off of the YBB-201.....

Eastman appears to have a 201/321 clone that may be worth investigating

If you find a bell about that size or even Conn 10j size in silver let me know.

This is an excellent tip - does anyone have a lead on some dealers? Their website doesn't seem to have any info on dealerships.
(I'm pretty sure I could get a new bell from Yamaha as well, but I'd prefer one without an engraving on it.)

Dillon's Music and Music & Arts are both Eastman dealers.
