FS: Conn 38K 1952 SOLD

Post by toakstertuba »

This horn is sold.
Hello my tuba brothers and sisters.
It saddens me to get rid of this gem. I'm going back to school and I'm going to start focusing on classical again. This means "Tina" won't be getting the attention she deserves. Serial dates her to 1952. I'm the fourth owner. Horn spent 30+ years in the the United States Marines and I was told has been to over 30 states including Hawaii. She has a beautiful petina with a fair amount of character adding dings. Bell is gorgeous but it's missing one of the screwing mechanisms but you could easily find a replacement. Seriously, once you play this thing... you'll fall in love like I did. I'll post pictures tomorrow but I wanted to see what kind of interest there was first. I'd also consider a trade or trade plus cash for the right F tuba. Horn is located in Portland, OR. I'd go as far as Seattle (in any direction) to make the sale. I'd prefer not to ship but I will if nothing else comes up and buyer pays for shipping.
Thanks for reading!

You might regret it later! Just because you're focusing more on classical while in school doesn't mean you won't have a need for the sousa later. Performing is performing. Whether it be on a sousaphone in a brass band in a club or in a symphony. I know guys that do both and love it. I was a music major and my sousa is my main instrument now as I don't perform with any concert groups. Just my two cents. I have the 4 valve version of your 38K and love it! Great horns

Were you not just trying to sell it on ebay?

Anyway, great price. Sure it won't last.
No that wasn't me. I saw that silver one on there though. But yeah $1200 for a 38K is a steal! It will go quick

Hello! Yeah I did the performance route first time through. And many gigs I did indeed play with my sousaphone. But now I'm going back to be an educator. And I really want this horn but I want more for her to be played on the regular! Here are some photos... I've never used photo bucket so we'll see how this goes. I can send photos to email or text if you want more. I'd also be down to Skype and play for folks if they're interested. Also, I was misinformed on the manufacture year and actually looked up serial. 1952 as far as I understand. I've included a pic of the serial number. I also forgot to say I'll include the Wenger sousaphone chair stand. That alone retails for 300+. This one's in good condition but is far from new. Private message me your email if you're interested. We can go from there.

Can somebody reply telling me if you can view all 10 photos after clicking on one of the ones I posted? Thanks!
