I'm selling a couple of instruments, see details below, price is negotiable.

Besson 983 Eb Tuba (front action) - $8,500. Includes instrument, gig bag, neo-tech harness, and mouthpiece (24AW). NO HARD-CASE. Mid 90s model, play tested and approved by Pat Sheridan, in excellent condition, recently chem cleaned. Located in the Dallas area.

Besson Prestige 2052 Euphonium - $7,000. Includes instrument, hard-case, gig bag, and mouthpiece. Purchased in 2008, German-made, in excellent condition, recently chem cleaned. Located in the Dallas area.

Not in the market, but I love my 983. It is my favorite all around horn for just about any ensemble.

983: fabulous all purpose, 'point and shoot' tuba. I wish I still had mine, but it's probably cheaper and more practical for me to go back to a 3 + 1 type eefer.

My thoughts exactly. Are you currently playing a 3+1? Get at strange looks at gigs?

Nope. I once had a '70s vintage Besson 3+1, and Boosey & Hawkes eventually sent me a 19" bell and the larger leadpipe with the standard Morris taper receiver. Then I had the "Parker cut" done on the back branch and - voila! - I had my own Fletcher horn. Sluggish valves but it had a fabulous tone. The looks I got were from people who loved the sound of that tuba. Extreme lows and extreme highs were a bit unwieldy on that horn, however.
