B&S PT-22p Eb tuba

Post by AHynds »

Hello, one and all!

After some shuffling around, I've decided to sell my B&S PT-22p Eb tuba. This is a great model that is sadly no longer being manufactured by B&S; my only guess is that they didn't want to compete against themselves, as this is largely the same model as the Meinl-Weston 2141, but with a slightly larger bell and PT valve set. I picked out the tuba from a set of three at Custom Music in December of 2013, and I have greatly enjoyed using this instrument. It is in lacquer, and there are some small dents throughout the instrument. There is also a patch of lacquer wear at the spot where my forearm rubs against the bell--that is shown below. It comes with a B&S branded Götz Supersac gig bag, and I'll throw in a mouthpiece (particularly the one that seemed to work the best with it--a PT-72s).

Why am I selling such a great instrument, you ask? To put it simply, I have decided to go a slightly different direction, equipment-wise. I recently purchased a really great older Besson 981 Eb, and I don't see the need for two Eb tubas.

I've linked an album below of photos of the instrument, as well as a video with the instrument in action.

There are a few things to note about buying this instrument. First of all, I'd greatly prefer to hand this instrument off personally for a prospective buyer, and would be willing to drive up to 4 hours to meet up with a buyer. The horn is in Bowling Green, OH, which is for all intents and purposes a suburb of Toledo. I have a tuba carton and would be willing to ship if need be, provided the buyer covers shipping costs.

New models of this instrument (the few that are still available!) retail for $9000, and the Meinl-Weston version goes for $10500. I am asking for $6500 for the tuba, gig bag, and mouthpiece. Shipping would go on top of that price.

Thanks for looking, and please don't hesitate to get in contact me if you're interested in this tuba!

Hi Aaron. Did the B&S sell yet? If not, was it new in 2013?

Thanks
