The tuba at BBC is a 4 valve (HB-1P). It plays very well and I thought of buying it at the Army Band Conference. I used to own one of these, but I sold it. I wish I still had it. I know it's a subject for another thread, and I've said this somewhere on this board, but I find with tubas of the same model, available in either 4 or 5 valves, the 4 valve tuba plays better. Anyone who played mine and knows the HB-2P thought that mine was a better (more free blowing and more responsive) tuba. It also has long 1st and 4th valve tempered slides - easy to move on the fly. Something to consider.
