This is a good example of the Mack Brass "TU-540" F tuba.

I bought it back in the fall and have worked with it and enjoyed it, but I haven't had a performance use for it, so it's time to let it go.

Here is the thread from when I bought it: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=65992 In that thread, Tom of Mack Brass talks about the modified linkages.

As you can see, there is some lacquer loss from replacing the leadpipe with one that allows the tuba to sit square to your body like it should and like the tuba it references. Originally the leadpipe forced the tuba to sit at an angle. The new leadpipe is exactly the same length as the old one, so it didn't change the intonation.

Also there is a small (pictured) dent in the second slide, and a 1"x 3/4" flat on the bottom bow.

Some of the bumpers have been replaced with new ones and the valves are perfectly aligned. It comes with the usual foam-body case.

Cat not included. :(

Played this tuba tonight while Mike sat beside me playing his travel CC tuba. Needless to say we had a good ole time in community band.

Information about the horn. I've played several PT-10 and PT-10Ps along with the real model of this horn the PT-15, and this horn has that sweet sound of those horns, but I've found that this horn plays better in tune. After I got the slides where they needed to be it was in tune with a travel CC and a Miraphone 186 BBb. There were several low, between Ab and up to up to the F right below the bass clef staff, and the PT-15 Copy kept up with both horns and then some. There were also some mid range sections and it sounded fantastic as well. Before we started I played a couple excerpts on it and the Mahler One solo sounded fantastic along with the Berlioz Hungarian March.

This is a KILLER horn. Sweet sound. Stellar intonation. Would make anyone very happy. If Tabor didn't just make me an F tuba I would be buying this one tomorrow.

Good luck Mike!

Best,
Zac
