Hello,
we have a W Meinl-Weston tuba that my wife has had for 35+ years. I had it tuned and cleaned a couple of years ago, as a gift for her. We are interested in selling it. But, we don't know what model it is or its value. How would you recommend we proceed with an appraisal and selling it?
Thank you,
Ted

A quick search of sold listings on ebay turned up two fairly recent sales of the 3-valve version, one for $510 and one for $549. One would think the fourth valve and the condition of yours would add some premium to that, but how much I don't know.

It is a model 11 BBb. They were imported in the 70s, and maybe later, too. They were nice tubas, and the compact size and fourth valve make it a desirable horn, especially in good shape like that one. I would hazard a guess that a little over or a little under $1,000 might be a fair used price. Your mileage may vary, and it might be useful to do a search for Meinl Weston Model 11 on "sold" listings in ebay turns up.
