Greetings TubeNet,

I am selling my 1960's 186. This horn plays beautifully and is in great shape. There is only one dent of any significance which is on the bottom bow (See photo with thumb for scale). This horn has 4 valves, and I believe it to be a handmade instrument. The original linkages, which were very noisy and loose, have been replaced with Dubro parts that work very smoothly and are quite quiet. The bell is made from very light metal that really rings, much like the bells on Alexander model instruments. The first valve is vented and lapped, that being said the intonation is quite good. Intonation can however be sensitive to which mouthpiece you choose to use on this instrument.

I have mostly used this tuba for solo and chamber music, it is a fantastic quintet tuba! I have also played it in orchestra, namely on Frank Symphony in D Minor and Stravinsky Suite no. 2 for Small Orchestra, the tuba really projects and I have had no issues being heard with it in bigger ensembles.

I really like this tuba and I want to make sure it goes to a good home. I am only selling it because I just bought a third CC tuba and it doesn't make sense for me to own that many.

The Tuba is in Houston, TX. I am willing to drive to meet a buyer halfway on a case by case basis. I would prefer not to ship because this tuba's bell is very delicate, but if we must, the buyer will pay for the shipping costs. The horn comes with a like-new Sterling (Tuba World) gig-bag.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you are interested or have any further questions. Please contact me through PM. There is a link to view the horn below.
Price is $5,000. Reasonable offers may be considered.

These are the great CC vintage Mirafones...1965 and before. And the 4 valve ones are the best. Check this horn out!
