I am thinning the herd and do not need three 2xj's around. The serial # E60118 is from 1965. I have been playing it in the community band all winter. All the slides pull and have a good "pop". The valves show little to no wear. The body still has pretty good lacquer and shines up nicely. Has a number of small dents but nothing that affects playability. The bell does have lacquer issues and is raw brass in some spots, mainly on the back of the stack and edges of the bell. It also has multiple small dents from where the #$%@! percussion section used it for a cymbal sometime before I got it . The 1st valve has a "click" to it when it comes back up. It does not affect how it plays. My tuba guy looked at it and said it was nothing major. It has a patch on the lead pipe. If I was going to keep it I would probably replace the pipe but it plays fine as is. All that being said, for being 51 years old it looks pretty good and plays very well. Typical 2XJ sound. It has the cases for the body and bell. The body case is in better shape than the bell case but both suffice to protect the horn from damage. (once again, 50 year old cases). Lots of gorilla tape on the bell case. Comes with tuning bit and mouthpiece.
