Hello Tubenet,

I am moving abroad to Germany, and I need to switch from a CC horn to a BBb horn. In doing so, I am unable to keep my wonderful CC tuba that I have had for a number of years now.

The Tuba itself is a Meinl Weston 2000 5/4 CC tuba. It is silver plated, with 4 steel piston valves, and a fifth rotary valve. It has a 19mm bore and the bell is approximately 45cm. The tuba also comes with an engraving of the Manhattan skyline. In addition to the Tuba, I will also be selling a gig bag to go with it.

This is a great college/professional horn. I have used this horn for all sorts of ensembles ranging from Orchestra's, Wind Ensembles, Quintets, small contemporary ensembles, and tuba quartets. I have never had an issue with this horn and I wish I could keep it myself, however I need the funds in order to purchase a BBb when I arrive in Germany for graduate school.

This horn new, costs over $21,000. I am asking for 10,500 starting, and I would be willing to negotiate the price. I am located in Northern California, but if you wanted the instrument shipped you will have to pay for shipping costs. If you are relatively close to me, I would be willing to drive and meet halfway. Please PM me for more details, and I will provide pictures of the horn soon. Thanks!

Aren't a number of players using CC in German orchestras these days? . . . I remember the American Ron [big, long Polish last name] used his Meinl-Weston 32 CC in the Vienna Phil., then later had an HB-2P (or something close to that). Regardless, good luck!

Purely out of curiosity, where are you in Nor Cal?

There are some using CC tubas in orchestras, but a lot of jobs require BBb as well as a lot of teachers require it. It really just depends on if the teacher/jobs preference.

I am based out of Sacramento currently.

OK, well I certainly wish you the best. It must pretty exciting to be heading over there to play Tuba. I'd love to come play your MW 2000, but it's out of my price range. Ron Bishop finished up with one of those!
