Hi Everyone,

I'm selling my fully hand made PT6. This instrument was a prototype. What sets it apart is the totally hand hammered bell and bow. This gives the instrument a far superior tone quality to 'the average' pt6. I bought this instrument from new and it was tested and collected from the factory in Markneukirchen by Steve Rosse.

The condition is good considering it's age (made in approximately 1993). It is clean and in perfect working order, it sounds amazing! Some lacquer has worn off over the years and there are artefacts of some of the small dents and dings have been repaired.


The great thing for my tuba brothers and sisters in the US is the price. The AUD has been dropping and had now hit 76c US. I'm asking $9200 AUD for the instrument which is only $6900 USD. I suspect very few pt6s in the US would be this cheap and you will not find a hand made instrument.

The buyer will be responsible for shipping costs from Australia. I suspect the price will be around $800 USD (happy to supply a firmer quote for anyone who is genuinely interested.) I may even consider delivering it post payment.

Even with the international shipping, ~$7,000 for a PT6 of this vintage is a steal. I had a great one from 1996. This one is sure to be fantastic if it's handmade to boot.

Had lots of interest and in communication with some people who are very interested in this wonderful instrument.
I've just sent it for a full clean and service.

I presume it includes a case (hard and/or soft) as well?

Yes, it comes with an adequate Gard gig bag and a fantastic custom made flight case. The flight case is very large and well constructed. It is made of aircraft aluminium (or is that aluminum ). It can easy withstand the worst of baggage handlers. The tuba is suspended on high density foam blocks inside the case. It also has detachable castor wheels.

I've had an incredible amount of interest in the horn.

What is your preferred method of payment?

Three sales/trades have fallen through. Just over two weeks ago I got the instrument back from the repairer and it is now exceptional, much, much better than before. I had no idea but embarrassingly I've been playing an instrument with a small leak in the leadpipe!!! The tone quality is as good as ever but the reliability and focus of the low register is vastly improved. The overall playability is now exceptional.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this instrument isn't going anywhere for the moment. Perhaps it might for sale again in the future but for the moment it is staying with me. Perhaps I might look for your recommendations on restoration.
