Sousaphone neck 1.jpg
I have a sousaphone neck for sale and based on the input from others, it might be a B & M.. It has what appears to be a Conn receiver, but the diagonal brace is a different style. It is about 25% larger than a regular Conn neck. The tenon diameter is 0.650 inches, , and the tenon is just under 1.5 inches long, It also has a triangular ridge piece along the outside of the tubing. Other pictures can be seen on Eugene, OR Craigslist. $75.
If anyone has information on the neck, I would appreciate it.

That sure resembles a Conn neck but I've never seen a Conn with a tenon that size. Even older ones have a tenon diameter of .696".

The brace has diamond shaped bases rather than the circular ones I've seen on most Conns. Could it be a Pan American?

I don't think so. The Pan American necks were identical to Conn necks. I've also never seen a lyre holder on the side of a Conn neck. Nor have I seen a guard wire on the backside/top of a Conn neck.
Even the MP receiver looks like Conn. However... I've also seen that style of receiver on old European souse necks.
Is the lyre holder receiver round instead of square?

The lyre holder is round on the bottom end, but square on top. Looks like it could have been filed square at some point.

I'm pretty sure (maybe, they were stupid-cheap to buy back then...??) that (many of) the B&M-made Marzan tubas sported made-by-Conn mouthpiece receivers.
Yes. and yes... I've seen Bohm & Meinl tubas that appeared to have Conn mouthpiece receivers.
I think the neck in question is Czech.
