SOLD: 1960 Mirafone 186 BBb 4v

Post by jimgray »

Here is a sweet old 186 BBb.

Valves are in good shape - were recently serviced by Osmun.
No intonation issues to speak of.

Has the S linkages, but they work fine.
I've gigged w this horn and would gladly do so again.
Shows her age, but in no way impedes playability (and is well factored into the price).

Response is excellent, horn is very light.
Has "that" sound that these horns are famous for.
Includes a Sterling gig bag.
$3,000

Why am I selling?
I have a rotary Fafner and an equally sweet 186 CC (in the left of all of all of all these pics).
There's not enough space between these two for me, and I don't need a spare at this point.
I'm a player - not a collector; this excellent horn needs to be played.

This instrument lives in Boston but can easily make an appearance in Philly or NYC for a trial.

-Jim

Several folks have asked offline if I'm interested in any trades.
I'd rather sell, but I might be... hit me directly w details on any trade offers.

Possibilities:
Exceptionally well playing sousaphones/helicons - old ones...
Particularly a Cerveny F helicon - that would be quite interesting - tho I'm open to other things.
