Hello All,

I am looking to sell my MM-TU 4500 CC tuba. I have performed with the Memphis Wind Symphony on this instrument and have enjoyed my time with it but it is time for us to part ways. It is a 5/4 lacquer horn with a .802 bore, a 19 in bell, with 4 pistons and 1 rotor that are vented for easy tuning. It has a few minor scratches on the bell and a couple of minor dings but nothing that negatively impacts the horn in any way. It also comes with a case. My asking price is $2000 and the horn is now located with me in Massachusetts.

How is the horns intonation and sound?

D below the staff is flat, first space A-flat is flat, B-flat is sharp, and D in the staff is flat. No note is "unplayable" and the previously mentioned notes are very manageable with slide movements and a decent ear. When I first purchased the horn, I sat down with it and played through my entire range with a tuner and these were the only notes I had to adjust for. The overall sound is wonderful, especially in the upper register.

How so? I am interested in these horns but they get a bad rep. And I don't find many players that have actually played them

I will say that I'm letting go of this horn because I need the money. If it were up to me, I'd keep it. It's a good horn (especially for the price) and the only notes that I had to make any real adjustments for (slide pulling or lipping) were the ones I previously mentioned.
