I am regretfully selling my 4/4 Rudy Meinl CC tuba. This model is from the late 80's early 90's *I think* still has German on the bell stencil. If you know anything about the Rudy horns then you'll know how this plays. great sound, projection, and intonation is pretty solid on the horn. gets that great german rotary CC sound and sounds much bigger then the 4/4 designated size of the horn. I have used this in every sett I ng from solo, chamber groups all the way up to playing in full band and orchestras. Pretty kick *** horn to play tchaikovsky 4 with. it also has the 2nd valve kicker included on the horn which helps with certain intonation quirks. Nothing major but it is really nice to have. the bell has been worked on before I owned the horn by Dan Oberloh, so it is raw brass. the rest of the horn has some lacquer still on it, but there are some scratches and small dents from normal wear and tear.

It has been a great horn that got me through grad school and a few auditions, however my career path has fallen away from music and now it just sits in my office/spare room not being used. this is the type of horn that should be used in ensembles and orchestras, not sitting, so I am putting it up for sale and will prob buy a smaller cc or Eb later. I will regret letting this horn go,but bill's and student loans have been pilling up.

I have owned this horn for about 4-5 years now, it has served me well but it is time for it to find a new home where it can be used again

this offer includes the rudy horn and the alteri gig bag it

Price is now $6500 obo

I'd love to see a few photos of it. Probably shouldn't have sold my Rudy 4/4...

This is a STEAL at this price! Will bought this horn while studying with me at OCU a few years back. It was a major upgrade from his 1292 in every way.

This tuba has a great german sound and is really close to PT 6 sized, just a tad smaller, but probably projects even better from the back of the orchestra. It plays as well in tune as any tuba and has a great second valve trigger for the few tendency notes you find on any horn. I believe the bell has a slight wrinkle but would be easily fixed by a competent repair person. I can't think of another tuba, for this price, that is even close. For you PT-6 owners out there, this one's for you. I owned a PT 6 for years and this is every bit as good or better.

It's also worth noting that Will is an honest and reasonable person to deal with. You will have no problems doing business with him.

My $.02

Every time I see one of these, I think "yeah, I probably shouldn't have sold mine." It was a really nice tuba, sounded great, and was the kind of horn that rewarded a well-practiced player. The 2nd valve kicker is a $1,000+ add-on when ordered brand new, so that's a pretty big deal and would probably be pretty useful.

I agree that it's a pretty big 4/4 tuba, but I never really viewed it as an almost 5/4 tuba. I think once you start to dabble in the really big horns, you kind of see that "4/4" has a very wide range. I consider my Willson a 5/4, and the Rudy was certainly smaller than that. But especially when compared to a Rudy 3/4, the Rudy 4/4 is definitely "one size up." But really, who cares -- it's a very versatile horn that's a really good "not huge and not small" size, and has no trouble being heard and laying down a solid low end.

Anyway... I really liked my Rudy 4/4, and kind of wish that I still had it.

Bump!

If you're looking to trade for a smaller 4/4 CC tuba, I've got a Jupiter 584 that I'd like to trade for a CC tuba with rotors. This looks like a very nice option.
