Hi Tubenet,

Up for sale is my 4-valve 1967 Mirafone 186 BBb. This is a fantastic horn, and it has never done me any wrong, but I'm looking to go in a different direction with my equipment now. I bought this horn a little over two years ago from a forum member; it was my do-it-all horn for most of that time, appearing in All-State/National bands and orchestras, numerous other local groups, and my college audition. Reason for selling? As I said, I'm looking to do some gear moving (if anyone's interested, I'll also be selling a King 3B/F trombone soon), and I'm simply not using it right now, and this is a horn that needs to be played.

About the horn--I've owned it for a little over 2 years now; when I bought it, I had a navy-blue, cordura Cronkhite bag made to fit it--it fits like a glove, and is in excellent condition. The horn itself is in raw brass, and is in excellent condition for its age. There aren't any major dents to speak of, just a minor ding in the crook of the 4th valve slide. The valves are smooth and quiet, and it still has its original bell garland. If you look at the pictures, (link below) you'll notice it has 'Bd. of Ed N.Y.C. 1967' engraved under the logo and serial number. The first valve slide is a bit stiff from the recent lack of use at the moment, but I can smooth it back out. This horn has an excellent sound, and an easy low range. I had it cleaned a few months ago, and it's spent most of the time since then sitting unplayed. The only other work I've had done to this horn was to set a larger screw into one of the rotor plates, as the old screw was loose.

This tuba is located near Lincoln, Nebraska, and, frankly, the idea of shipping this horn makes me nervous--pick-up or meet-up within a reasonable distance are preferred. Considering the condition of the horn and the case, I'm going to ask $2800 for the package. Contact my via PM or at my email (millington (dot) ethan (at) gmail (dot) com) if you would like more pictures, or any questions.

Thanks Austin and Noah! I've had some interest in the horn, but no takers, so far. Don't hesitate to ask any questions!
