FS: Meinl Weston 182 -3/4 F Tuba *Willing to Trade for Euph*

Post by PatrickYoung »

Hello all!,
For sale is my 5v Meinl Weston 182 F Tuba. I purchased this 3/4 size horn used from Tom McGrady (Owner of Mack Brass) around October of 2013. This instrument has served me very well as I learned to play the F Tuba during my undergrad.
I have used this horn in many different playing situations and it is an excellent small 3/4 size F tuba, perfect for someone looking to learn F Tuba, or for someone looking for a smaller "travel, but usable for performance" F Tuba. This horn plays very well in tune and sounds quite large for its size, especially if you are accustomed to playing a rotor F Tuba. The lower register is what you would expect from a German rotary f tuba, the low C and Bb center well, but certainly not as "free" as my Yamaha F Tuba. There are a few love dings and a medium size dent in the bottom bow, (which came with the horn before I purchased it) but it doesn't effect the sound at all. All slides are movable, but the 4th valve slide is difficult to move due too it being slightly out of alignment (but is still movable). This happened before I purchased the instrument, but it worked perfectly fine for my studies and performances.
Pictures are posted below, and the horn is available for interested buyers to play test in Athens, GA.
I am asking $3700 for the horn, which includes an Altieri gig bag. I'm also considering a trade for a nice used euphonium of equivalent value.
If you're interested in trying the tuba, please shoot me a message. Pictures are posted in the link below!
Thank you,
-Patrick Young

Good luck with the sale. I bought one of these, and it's been a keeper. The horn is very compact. It's wonderful where space is tight; on the downside it's incognito as a euphonium. Mine had the upper strap ring moved to the bottom bow, and a Neotech harness works like a dream.

Bump for Patrick. This is a great little horn. I tried it out a couple days ago and loved it, but I won't be able to make the money work for a few more months. If someone buys this horn before I can figure my money out, good for you and I'll be jealous. Best of luck selling it, Patrick!

I know it's a weird question, but do you have a picture of you holding the horn? I just want to have an idea of the instrument's size, and I can't find any picture with someone holding it.
