SOLD: Rudolf Meinl 4/4 CC

Post by Michael Bush »

Here is a Rudolf Meinl 4/4 CC tuba. This particular tuba has been pretty extensively discussed here, so it should be easy to learn all about it.

When bort bought it, there was some damage to the bell. Looking at it now, you would never guess if it weren’t for the lacquer loss. The result is that the bell is pretty much raw brass, which isn’t all bad.

It has the dark, resonant sound you would expect of a Rudy 4/4. In a small room, you could suspect that it doesn’t project, but one scale in a performance hall will not just take away that worry, it will nearly take your breath away.

As far as quirks go, I at least need to use 12 and 23 for E and Eb in the staff. (Open and 2 are sharp.)

This is a great, do anything tuba. The pictures tell all about it.

The tuba is located in Athens, Alabama, just south of Nashville. You can contact me here, or at bush.md at Google’s email service, or you can call me at the area code for Greenville, SC and then 378-4934.

SOLD. Thank you to those who expressed interest.

Yep, my old tuba!

The bell was damaged during shipping, but the bell was the only damage. It was repaired by Matt Walters, so you can be certain that it was done right. Matt also found that the end of the leadpipe was flattened where it connects to the receiver, so he took that apart, made it round, and fixed a problem I didn't even know existed.

This is a GREAT tuba, and one that I probably shouldn't have sold (I traded it for something that didn't work out, so...).

That's a nice looking horn! I'd love to take it off your hands, but I'm trying to find a trade for my Jupiter 584 CC tuba.
