SOLD: MW 5450 Thor

Post by darth2ba »

Hello all,

For sale is my Meinl Weston Thor. I am the only owner. I purchased this new from Baltimore Brass in January '15. It is lacquer plated with the newer 18.9" bell. I had the leadpipe raised to improve the resonance, and the 3rd and 4th valves vented (in addition to the 1st valve which came vented from the factory). This is a great representation of this model of tuba - intonation is very good from top to bottom, and the low register is solid. For those of you that were at ITEC 2016 in Tennessee and attended the Charlotte Symphony Low Brass Masterclass, this is the CC tuba I played.

(I still have the thumbring, and it will be included if buyer wants it.)

$11,500 firm

Sale includes:
MW Thor
Baer PVAK kit
Chronkite Blue/Black cordura gig-bag

If interested, I will include two Hammond Design mouthpieces (Helleberg style and Geib style cups) and GW Szentpali CC for an additional $300.

Reason for selling? I am moving to something that better suits my needs.

I am located in Chicago, IL. I prefer not to ship, and am willing to drive a good distance to meet up with potential buyers. I will be in the Boston/Rhode Island area January 18th/19th for anyone who is interested in giving it a test-run. ***Cashier's Check only***

Inquiries please email me directly.

Wishing you all a wonderful 2017!

Cheers,

Joe Ready
