I'm getting a lot of input on cimbassi, most of it being, "why would you want one of those?". All I need is something good enough to stump in a college jazz band - 4th or 5th trombone parts. I even envision doubling a not-so-strong bass trombonist, and just playing 'whack a mole' on the sustained lower notes. I'd like to cook up some standards on one as well: "Girl from Impenema", "Una Mas" - that sort of thing.
I want to use a smaller F tuba m.p. (shallow) on it, and not a bass trombone m.p. If you've got something to unload at a reasonable price, send me a PM or e-mail. It would also be a good way for me to learn to play in F as well (Eb is fine too).
I know the good ones are very expensive, but I'm NEVER going to be called to do "Nabucco" or any other Verdi opera - not would I want to be! Also, nobody is going to call for me to come to L.A. to record the latest "Harry Potter" soundtrack. We're talking about slumming around at the local community college and turning a few heads at outdoor appearances. Nothing more. Thanks.
