Hello fellow Tubists,
I have a Conn 3J for sale, found this instrument at an antique store but was missing a piston and needed some work done so I got it at a fair price and decided to work on it. Its been a very nice project and the tuba has had all the dents on the body and main bows removed (only small dings left on some slides that can be seen in pictures). I ordered a new piston from Conn and had it fitted (hence the brighter laquer). Most of the laquer has been removed and is mostly raw brass. Horn has a great sound, intonation is scary good, everything is spot on, and very flexible, intervals on this horn are way easier to play than my bigger CC. The 18 inch bell also gives it a broad open tone that easily supports a good sized wind ensemble, it has that classic American sound. This is a great horn for anybody looking to have a great 4/4 tuba for standing gigs, quintet horn, or a student looking to switch to a CC horn.

No, sorry... San Antonio is quite some ways and since I just picked up an extra shift at work I don't think I can make it anytime soon.58mark wrote:Damn, that really pushes the "driving distance ratio for me. I'm really tempted by this horn.
Are you ever in San Antonio? I think that's half way

Re: Conn 3J raw brass 3/4 C tuba
Am I confused?
I thought that the Conn 2J and 4J tubas were in CC and the Conn 3J and 5J tubas were in BBb. At least I used to think that.
I don't know what I think after seeing lots of results for a Google search on Conn 3J tuba coming up as CC's.
