I've played two examples of that model of horn(presuming we are talking about the MW18). One was extremely good.. the other was just 'ok'.

If yours is a good one(plays well, decent cosmetics, and mechanically sound) then you should hold out for *atleast* $3000. They sell new for $4195 now. The good examples of the MW18 are really truly great tubas and compare very favorably to much more expensive horns. Probably one of the best BBb quintet/chamber music tubas on the market.

The other example of the MW18 I played was owned by a local school district, was poorly maintained and a bit of a disapointment. Still 'OK' but not great. Blew kinda stuffy and had an odd scale. With a little work perhaps it would have played as well as the other example. If you think that your horn plays closer to this second example then you should be happy with $1600 and enjoy your wedding.

Of course, having said that. The economists on the board will eagerly point out that it's only worth what someone is actually willing to pay for it. Part of that equation is also going to be how quickly you want to sell. To get what the horn is *really* worth could take longer than you are willing to wait. At which point lesser offers will become a lot more attractive.
