Trade Boosey & Hawkes Eb for BBb? SOLD

I have a beautiful Boosey & Hawkes Imperial Eb tuba for sale. Would consider trade for a nice BBb (Miraphone 187 ish)
The horn is from the late 70's/early 80's. I bought it used in 1985; it has been my main horn for the past 32 years.
Modifications include: Besson 981 leadpipe with a Dillon AGR, delrin valve guides, mounted Stewart Stand. Includes a Reunion Blues gig bag and the original wood case.
$5000

FYI, if you are not familiar with this tuba it is comparable to a Besson 981, 3+1 compensating system with a 19" bell.

Tuba is located near Reading PA. I am not interested in shipping, but would be willing to travel a bit if you are in the North east or mid atlantic region. My son lives in Pittsburgh and my daughter is in DC, so I can meet you somewhere!
email me at tubabone at ptd dot net or PM me.

Ken,
Would you mind telling me who installed your 981 leadpipe? I have a Besson 982 I'm happy with at the moment, but I can foresee a time when I might be looking to make that modification.
Good luck in selling your tuba. If it weren't for the fact that I just picked up a 982, I'd be knocking on your door already!
Best wishes,
Eric

Unfortunately Harvey Hartman is no longer with us. He did all the modifications for me.

How big is the bell on your 982?

As someone who has 'specialised' in working on B&H Eb tubas for 20 or so years. These late 70's early 80's were the best. Far better built than anything post 82 (Sovereign)
Somebody will get a great tuba!

Thank you Mike for the plug. Since you are familiar with these models I have a question for you.
Someone asked me if the valves were stainless steel or nickel plated. I have no idea, would you know?

OK so I have this Boosey & Hawkes horn for sale since last July and it seems my price may be too high.
make me an offer with a lower price, who knows I may say yes. Remember it comes with two cases and is a great horn.
So here are some things I am looking for. If you have any of them, and an Eb tuba might seem like a neat trade, let's talk.....make me an offer I can't refuse....

Miraphone 187 BBb
St. Petersburg BBb 202N?
Boosey & Hawkes Eb Imperial with the small bell 15"
Old style european helicon Eb with rotary valves

so again..
a big-ish BBb tuba (not necessarily a huge horn)
A cool scalpel-like Eb tuba (I play the top Eb part in a brass band and would like a smaller horn)
funky looking Eb helicon

now for some of these I may ask for a little money in addition to the trade, but again please ask....

anyone into motorcycles? I have a Bushtec motorcycle pull behind trailer for sale also, I could trade for a tuba!!!

ken (I hope ir doesn't sound like I am getting too desperate...) k
