John Packer 379 CC Tuba SOLD

Postby summittubaline08 » Wed Aug 09, 2017 5:11 pm

Hi there!

Up for sale is my JP 379 CC Tuba. The tuba is located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and I am asking $4,200.00 plus shipping. I am considering all offers. It will come with the factory hard case and a Wessex gig bag. Both cases are in great shape! All of the valves have recently been aligned and the horn has also been chemically cleaned as of a month ago. All work has been done by Rivard Brothers Band Instrument Repair. It does have a few scratches in which I will point out in the pictures, but the horn is in great playing condition. The pictures will be going up in just a few hours, so please check back for those. This is a fantastic all around horn and you can not go wrong with it. This tuba is essentially a copy of the HB21. Here is a clip of me playing the JP with my band to give you an idea of how good it sounds. https://soundcloud.com/user-773717768/stthomas" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank Please let me know if you have any questions and I will consider any serious offer. Thank you!

Here are some pictures of my John Packer CC tuba.

One thing that I forgot to talk about was the pitch of the horn. It is great on pitch, I usually have to manipulate the first (D in the staff is flat for me) and fourth (Db is a little high) valve slides slightly. Other than that, it is spot on. Again, please let me know if you have any questions at all and I will consider any serious offers. Cheers!

Wow, you need a different hosting service. I couldn't get a look at your pictures because of the incessant pop-ups. Frustrating.

If one were looking for a 5/4 size CC, would this horn be able to fill that role? I'm thinking it might be a little small, but a perfect 4/4.

Good question! I bought it with the need of a “do it all” horn. It is an extremely versatile tuba. If you need it to sound like a 5/4, it will definitely put some sound out without having to work very hard. On the other hand, it can be easily played in a small ensemble like any other 4/4 out there. I have played this tuba in large bands and small quintets/jazz combos with zero sound problems.
