Although the horn isn't cosmetically perfect, its sound has definitely held up. Powerful & focused tone for loud dynamics in orchestral and wind ensemble playing, but has good control for smaller ensemble playing in both low and high ranges. Unlacquered and still has minor dents, but none that would negatively impact intonation. Solid, versatile horn: An oldie but a goodie

Has it always been raw brass, or wad the lacquer stripped at some point?

I wish I knew the full history, but it was raw when I bought it back in 2009 and the previous owner said that he bought it that way back when I made my purchase.

Does that tuba have a patch on the bell rim?

Now only $4500 for a great horn! The only catch is that you must be able to pick it up from Nashville.

I'm pretty sure I owned that tuba for several years. It belonged to David Graves and Bloke 3 times before me. It has had a few owners since i sold it as I've seen it for sale before. I found it to be a good instrument and I was lucky to have it.
