Reading the history of the instrument in your other post is disturbing and I am glad you got the instrument back. I had an F tuba for sale decades ago and was contacted by the tubist of a full time orchestra west of the Mississippi River. He asked me to send the horn out for a trial.

I didn't know any better at the time and did. He kept the horn for almost nine months, and used it on European tour with the orchestra. I had moved, enrolled in grad school and was a semester into my coursework when he eventually sent it back. Totally without any integrity, as was your "buyer." I hope you have better luck this time around.

Alternatively, I know one professional who generously sent a horn on approval to a student, not cashing the personal check he received for it. That professional then decided to call the student's teacher who said, "He doesn't have enough money in his account to buy lunch, let alone a 6/4 tuba." The horn was returned.

Moral of the stories, do not send the horn until you have CASH in hand. Or learn it all over again like I did.

I don't think Kevin got his old horn back - I think he wound up buying a Buescher Jumbo from saxophyte.

It's all good. The guy that has his old sousaphone paid "most" of some price for the horn.

Don't ship a tuba until you have cash in hand.
