FS: Meinl Weston 2144 **new price**

MW 2144, 4 piston valve CC tuba. Much-coveted MW 'small valves' - plating is good (no nicks or scratches). Older horn, probably late 80's - early 90's. Raw brass with full patina. A few small dings, no big dents. Slides all move. First valve slide is very quick with the right oil.

This is an excellent horn that is a joy to play, but it sits in my house giving me puppy dog eyes because it no longer gets the attention it deserves. Time to move on.

Includes a brand new black Chronkite bag, G&W Taku Light SS mouthpiece in excellent condition, a homemade playing stand (that I think is as good or better than anything commercially available), a music stand, a stack of compulsory method books and solos, and some other small peripherals acquired over the years that may be helpful to a potential buyer.

Located in Toronto, Canada. Shipping at buyer's expense is possible but not preferred. Would entertain meeting a serious US buyer on the Canadian side of Niagara falls. If you buy the tuba but don't want everything listed above we can work something out, but I will not sell off the smaller items independently of the tuba at this time.

Now CAD $6600 (USD $5200) for everything listed above. More pictures available upon request. Email me off Tubenet for a faster response.

These older small valve 2145s were great! Too bad I'm too far from Toronto, or I'd really have to consider it!

Not too sure of its history prior to picking it up a few years ago at BBC.

I think I might have played this horn before then. It was either this or a similar 5 valve small bell, small valve 2145.

Ridiculously easy to play, sounded great.

I did own this, my understanding was a prototype. Great horn. Any questions PM me.

bump.

This would be a great horn for pit orchestra / quintet / other non-classical applications (particularly for those not interested in schlepping a sousa). Polished (or not?), this would also find its niche in traditional mid-weight orchestra lit (Dvorak? Brahms? Meistersinger??). Enough pull on the first slide for an easy low F / Eb.

New motivation to see this go, so a new price.

Now CAD $6600 (USD $5200) for the tuba, new-condition black Chronkite bag (USD $650 new), excellent condition G&W Taku light SS mouthpiece (USD $150-$200 new), stack of music, and probably the best stand for use when playing that you'll find. More pictures available upon request.
