SOLD: Conn 56J 5-valve silver 4/4 CC $4500

Post by tubalex »

This tuba has been sold.

Posting for a student:

This tuba sounds fantastic; was used by my student recently for orchestra, band, solo, and solo with brass band accompaniment; all to my liking.

Here's a info/review/demonstration video I threw together:

It needs a basic tune-up in a repair shop, but it is an outstanding instrument that plays well beyond what you might expect for a 4/4 tuba. Every time I've demonstrated something on this tuba in one of his lessons I have enjoyed myself very much.

The horn is located in Knoxville, TN. Selling so he can move to something I found for him that suits him a bit better in a higher price range. Comes with a ProTec gig bag. He is a motivated seller!

What kind of “tune up” would you say it needs?

One or two braces could use some solder, a couple of cosmetic dings, and a thorough cleaning and new felts will help overall "feel" of the tuba. But it's ready to play right now, as is.

Always wanted a 54J or a 56J. Too bad I'm selling, not buying right now.
