FS: PRICE DROP MW 2145 $6500

Post by vkung »

Putting up a Meinl Weston 2145 CC up for sale!
Comes with a brown leather Cronkhite gig bag.

I had this professionally appraised one year ago and it came out to be $13,500. Only asking $6500! I'll provide the appraisal paperwork for insurance if needed.

I've owned this horn for two years and it's been absolutely wonderful, but I'm looking to move to a 5/4. The horn plays very well and is a great CC for someone going into their undergrad. There are some general wear and tear signs like small scratches and a very small ding on the bottom, but no major cosmetic or functionality issues.

The horn is located in San Francisco, CA. I'm willing to ship, but buyer will pay shipping.

I am just curious, what is involved with a professional appraisal? I know people get jewelry and such appraised, is this the same for which your talking about? Also, who did you get to do it? I would imagine one would need one for insurance purposes but is there any other reason? Just curious.

Hey!

I got mine done at a local music store. Same concept as jewelry or even property! A specialist did it for me, and I got the paperwork specifically because you can't purchase instrument insurance before you have a professional appraisal report. I believe you can use home owner's insurance but the coverage is not as good as a policy specifically for an instrument.
