I went to a music store near me and I needed a mouthpiece for my band program. They were getting rid of old stock so thinking nothing of it, I bought this mouthpiece. Then I put it in a school tuba and the shank is too small. Since it's old stock, they aren't accepting returns. If anyone has a smaller receiver Eb Besson tuba (might be compatible with other Eb tubas that take a Besson shank) from before the 2000s, this is compatible with your instrument. I'm looking to get $100 US. The price is slightly negotiable but I still need to get another mouthpiece. I am willing to trade outright for just about any Euro shank that'll fit my Yamaha 3/4 Bb tubas. The mouthpiece is in Charlotte, NC. Buyer pays shipping.

I'm a little unsure what you have here. The story I get from the archives is that up to 1970, a Besson Eb would have the classic small shank, and I guess I have heard that Schilke used to make a few small shanks, so I guess this adds up. Matt Walters says .490 inch at the end, and it's similar to a large trombone shank (bass trombone or other large bore.) I'm just wondering if at some point Besson used some kind of intermediate shank, because I got comments from someone with a couple German Besson Ebs that the fabulous James R New C-1 rode kind of high in the the receiver.

Meanwhile if your Yamahas really have a Euro shank, a "normal" tuba mouthpiece would fit kind of far in. But probably they really have a normal American shank?
