PT-6 Rotor Silver-$8500(price drop)-Local sale preferred for now
Got this tuba from Nathan Cunningham and it is my understanding that this tuba was made circa 1996. I have done a number of mods to this horn that did help it's play-ability even though it was already a good example of a pt-6. Why the sale your might ask, particularly if it's good?!??!! I am switching back to playing all piston valve horns.
1. Leadpipe take off bell.
2. 5th valve wrap moved to front of tuba for easy access to first valve slide.
3. Lapped 1st valve slide
4. Vented 1st valve.
5. Reversed the main tuning slide
6. Rounded out the edges of the rotors - greatly improved eveness of tone and blow. Also made slurs easier
7. Reversed the 2nd valve slide - made no difference on this horn. I did this to a vintage alex 163 I had and it greatly improved the blow on all 2nd valve fingerings which is the reason I did it to the pt6.
-I think that's everything that has been done to it.
There is a little shaft play in the first valve rotor that is not yet problematic.
All rotors are still dead quiet including the first valve rotor.
I will not post pictures of it until it gets a chem clean and polish which will happen in a few weeks.
Horn is located in San Antonio TX. I DO HAVE A SHIPPING BOX AND CAN SHIP GREYHOUND. Probably around $150 to ship
I would only consider a trade plush cash for a Mirafone compensating Eb.
