Im looking for a a Getzen, or shires, or Edwards bass bone to buy. Im looking for thayers on them too. So if anyone has any of these trombones with thayers, or greenhoes, please notify me.

A couple of suggestions . . .

1. Go to www.trombone.org. Look at the classifieds and the "Products" forum.

2. Call Steve Ferguson in LA or look at www.hornguys.com. He carries Getzen and other brands and is a top-rate 'bone specialist.

3. I think Dave Fedderly has some Getzens. See www.baltimorebrass.net. He is also first rate.

Unlike some of the "thicker is better" bells that sound like phhht unless you are at FFF in a 110 piece orchestra, Ken's has a sensible bell on it that works in virtually all playing situations. Many guys are now dumping their truck bumper gauge bells in favor of something that actually has resonance, playability, and color in its sound.

P.S. Don't rule out traditional rotors on the right horn. The low CC and BB blow extremely open on my 1062, compared to stock Bach 50. There are also some Yamahas and even the Benge that have relatively free blowing double trigger ranges. There are still a lot of great players making great music on regular rotors; go for what sounds and feels the best, not what plumbing is pressed against your neck.

If Stradivarius was a plumber, he would have built bass trombones.
