[SOLD] Yamaha 821 "Bobo" Model F Tuba

Post by KembleTuba »

Hello all,

I'm here to sell my Yamaha 821 F Tuba. It is a custom make by Yamaha in the "Bobo" design. The horn is a special order from Yamaha. Photos can be found here https://imgur.com/XmS2WUj" target="_blank" target="_blank https://imgur.com/GhjDYlz" target="_blank" target="_blank https://imgur.com/W5db4uY" target="_blank" target="_blank https://imgur.com/vbY3FKk" target="_blank" target="_blank https://imgur.com/pCTdtkm" target="_blank" target="_blank https://imgur.com/B844vdX" target="_blank" target="_blank

An archived page with description can be found here for the tuba http://w.hornguys.com/tubafyamaha.php and reads "The model 821 was designed for Roger Bobo, the reknown tuba soloist. It has a larger bell, a bigger, broader tone, and a bit more projection than the 621. It also includes two 5th valve slides. It includes a gig bag, as the larger bell prevents use of the stock Yamaha hard case. This horn is built to order, and may take several months to obtain. It is the top of the line custom solo tuba from Yamaha."

I've found the above description to accurately describe the tuba. It has the capability to play with ease in all registers well in tune. Having the body of the 621 and the bell of the 821, this horn can perform in every situation. It is an absolute winner in the solo setting and I've used it heavily in quintet and orchestral settings to good effect.

My asking price for the tuba is $9,000 and includes a black gig bag and a second 5th slide. I am currently located in Vacaville, CA in-between Sacramento and San Fransisco and would be willing to drive a good distance if you are seriously interested (I would go further if you live in Southern California as my family is there). Please PM me or reach out on Facebook!

@Mike, yup it is a lefty! I haven't had many issues with it personally, but it took a minute to get used to.

I heard Brian play on this horn while at CU. It's a great sounding horn, and I was always envious of its great pitch and ease of playing, someone is going to get a great horn.
