Boosey & Hawkes Imperial EEb Tuba – 15” Bell
1979 (s/n 625XXX)
Includes a Yamaha hard case
This is one of the best compensating Eb tubas I’ve ever played. The tone is more focused, with much (much) more core to the sound than other 3+1 Eb’s.
This tuba has the least-stuffy BBb side of any compensating Eb tuba I’ve tried (including a fantastic Yamaha Neo). Even with the 15” bell, the low register on this horn is monstrous.
In 2012, Dan Oberloh fabricated a new receiver out of nickel-silver, to fit standard American shank mouthpieces.
I am selling this instrument for the widow of a friend. The instrument is in good shape, and has only been transported in a hard case. The valves are in great shape (with metal guides), and all of the slides move freely.
