SOLD -Wessex Helleberg tuba mouthpiece

Post by MartyNeilan »

Wessex titanium gold plated Helleberg tuba mouthpiece. This is similar to an HKote or a Ti-N on a drill bit, over a brass mouthpiece. Standard / American shank. Smooth and slick on the chops just like traditional gold plating but wears much longer. Rim is slightly rounder and more comfortable than a "traditional" Helleberg - reminds me of the Kellyberg. This and the Kellyberg are my favorite all-around Helleberg mouthpieces. Plastic/rubber mouthpiece pouch included.
$80 plus $5 shipping to "lower 48". Paypal and Venmo accepted.

I have a bunch of mouthpieces and a traditional helleberg is not my go-to for either of the tubas I am currently playing (personal or church).
I use the massive Warburton-Neilan (a heavyweight hybrid loosely based on the AJ mouthpiece) on the church owned 186 and two of the Baer mouthpieces on my 6/4 project formerly known as BART. I also have a couple of Blokepieces but as much as I like them I find I keep going back to the Baer variants on my big horn, they seem to work slightly better on that unique tuba in terms of pitch, response, and color throughout the ranges.
If I did not have my custom made Warburton-Neilan I would use a stock helleberg out of the box much more often. Again, of the hellebergs I have tried over the years I think this and the kellyberg are my favorite variants. The coating on this mouthpiece is probably similar to what they put on some drill bits and makes the mouthpiece feel smoother and slicker similar to traditional gold plating, without easily wearing off.
