Miraphone 1290 CC Tuba
Asking Price - $4000
For sale is a 5/4 Miraphone 1290 5V (4P+1) CC Tuba in great condition. The horn has been used primarily by Tuba Performance majors both undergrad and graduate most recently my son who was the 3rd owner. This is a great horn for the aspiring music major or advanced player who wants to make the switch from BBb tuba to CC.
This horn was produced by Miraphone some time around 2000. The 1290 was one of Miraphone’s first large 5/4 piston valve tubas. This tuba is in good shape with some normal wear including some scratches along the bottom bow along with the horn’s only significant dent (about the size of a quarter). There are further minor scratches on the upward bend leading up to the bell section - that section that frequently gets contact from the player. There are some minor dings in the bell but were too small for my camera to capture them. The 5th valve rotor is tuned to 4 semitones. It has a solid sound - classic Miraphone. The horn has been chemically cleaned within the last year.
The horn also comes with an Altieri Gig Bag as well as a Miraphone Hard Case. The hard case has a crack in the handle used to wheel the case around. The handle is still usable and should be fixable. We chose not to only because we used the case so infrequently.
The horn is located in Orlando, Florida.
