SOLD FS: Meinl-Weston 45S F Tuba

Post by wgb21 »

This horn has been sold! Thank you for the interest!

Meinl-Weston F Tuba for sale!

Meinl-Weston 45S 6/4 F Tuba

Bell: 16.5"
Bore: .768" - .846"
5 Rotary Valves (5th right thumb)
Clear lacquer finish

This is the 45S model, not -SLZ. It was manufactured before those models were introduced. Great middle and upper register, lower register has good tone but the standard challenges that come with playing these horns. It is in great shape, lacquer at 97% and I pictured the scuffs and dents as best possible. Comes with an Altieri gig bag.

$4,400

Located in Wilmington, NC. I will ship at buyer's expense. Pictures below:

Thanks!

I have a soft spot for these horns. Probably one of the ultimate german style F tubas. Beautiful clean clear voice.

Generally speaking, I like it when rotary tubas have a leadpipe that goes into the TOP of the first-in-line valve ("5th valve" or "1st valve") instead of the SIDE of the first-in-line valve.

These are indeed very nice F- tubas. It seemed they were the M-W darling around 1988(?)-until the SLZ/ SLP came out. If I'd have had the funds, I would have bought the demo at the 1989 Army Conference. For this price, anyone looking for an F tuba should buy this quickly.
