SOLD $5500 (firm): Mirafone 186 5V CC, model TE186-B, serial #17597 (made in December 1999). I purchased this new from the Tuba Exchange in 2000 (hence the TE in the stamped model name). To my knowledge, Tuba Exchange used A & B at the end of these model numbers to indicate the # of valves. "A" represented 4 valves, while "B" represented 5 valves. The thumb rotor plays 2 + 3. I bought this for my undergrad at Ohio University. It has worked wonderfully in many settings, including solo, regional symphony orchestra, quintets, church, and entertaining my kids/dogs. It looks beautiful and plays great, well representative of a 186. I earned the money to buy this myself in high school, so I took really good care of the instrument (funny how that works, right?). It has a couple minor dings in the bell and one in the bottom bow that I'm still mad about, HA. This originally had plastic uniball linkages, but I upgraded them all to metal. I'm selling to buy something less expensive for my minimal use, and to have financial flexibility to upgrade my kids' instruments. I may consider a trade for another CC or BBb, if the trade included a decent tuba, plus cash (not looking for a straight trade). I'm content keeping this as my forever instrument if a buyer doesn't come along, so I'm not interested in risking shipping. PM me if you want to meet up to check it out in Vermilion, OH (located in northern Ohio, between Cleveland and Cedar Point).
The tuba comes with a Reunion Blues gig bag (branded Tuba Exchange). In college, I briefly collected autographs from players, so the bag has some Sharpie signatures and notes "to Adam" inside from Harvey Phillips, Sam Pilafian, Daniel Perantoni, Brian Bowman, Ted Cox, Deanna Swoboda, & Timothy Northcut.
