Sold - B&S PT6

It's taken me over six months, but it is finally time to put my old PT6 up for sale. I've replaced it with a B&S MRP CC that I purchased last summer, and I haven't played my PT6 since. This horn was built in 1995 and originally purchased by Dave Hartung. I am the third owner of this instrument and have owned it since 2007. This has been a wonderful instrument to play for the last 13 years. It was the instrument that I won my audition for the USAF Heritage of America Band on, and I played it frequently during my seven years with the Air Force Bands. This is a wonderful PT6 that feels lighter and sounds more colorful than modern versions.
Since purchasing it, a few modifications have been made.
- pull ring added to the first valve slide for easy access
- slide stop rod added to the first valve slide to prevent the overzealous tuba operator from yanking the slide out entirely while playing
- first valve slide adjusted to allow faster slide movement while playing
- pull ring added to bottom crook of the fifth slide to allow for easier removal of slide
Included with the instrument:
- B&S Supersac gig bag
- fifth valve slide extension to put fifth valve into minor third mode (if you're into that sort of thing)
- leather guard wrap for the bell section near the thumb ring (haven't used it in over 10 years)
Instrument was recently serviced by myself at the brass repair shop that I currently work at. Rotary valves feel great and valve alignment is spot on. Silver plating is still in good shape, although there are a few hard to see spots where previous ultrasonic baths have removed a bit of plating.
I'll provide pictures at some point when I get around to it. It's taken me six months to write this post, so it may be another six more.
Asking $9,750. Instrument is located in the Chicago northwest suburbs. Feel free to private message me here or email me directly at c.fahrenbacher@gmail.com" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank if you are interested or have any questions.
