Alexander 164 for Sale - SOLD
Posted: Sat Mar 07, 2020 4:53 pm
Located in Houston, TX.
CC 5V, flat whole step. Asking $8,000 plus shipping via greyhound. Includes large flight trunk (no wheels) and old Reunion blues gig bag (zipper is 95%, carries the horn just fine).
Hand made, incredible sound. Serial number on the 2nd valve is 9262. Selling because it isn't practical for teaching lessons in schools and brass quintet playing. If I could afford to hold on to a horn I wasn't using daily I would definitely keep it, but alas. I'll regret letting it go.
Tuning: all d's are 1&3, as are most g's. YMMV, you'll need to spend time working with alternate fingerings. The tuning lever/pitch finder I used instead of valve slide pulls.
As several folks with far more experience than myself have stated, Alexander tubas take time, dedication, and patience to learn. I found this one to be worth the effort.
