Are you for sale, or just your bass 'bone? (this ended up in the 'FOR SALE' forum; sorry, I just couldn't resist... )

My experience is that rather than hurting, if you use the correct tuba chops for tuba it actually helped my doubling immensely in college. Also, even though I went to music school, I didn't even START playing tuba except for marching band for the first couple of years, so no, I don't think it will hurt, especially something so similar, as long as you keep up your tuba studies. IMHO

Aren't we all for sale? We are willing to do things with our bodies, for money, that other people are unwilling or unable to do for themselves.

I am a strong proponent of doubling to make yourself more marketable, and if the school is paying you... go for it.
